About the event
Kids played baseball every day of the summer on the Mill Street field. Watching from his steps, Mr. Mayberry was usually their only spectator. But the whole neighborhood showed up on Labor Day for the biggest baseball game of the summer.
The annual Labor Day game of 1969 is the backdrop for this coming of age tale of an 11 year old boy. The lives and stories of the neighbors on Mill Street pave a funny and nostalgic ride as the play heads toward the coming of age moment during one of the most pivotal years in American history.
